I'VE SEEN THE DUKE MANY TIMES BEGINNING IN 1961 AND HE IS LIKE FINE WINE, BETTER AND BETTER WITH EACH YEAR! HE WAS WONDERFUL AT RIVER RIDGE AND WAS GRACIOUS ENOUGH TO TALK WITH ME A FEW MOMENTS. I'M GLAD GENE HAS BEEN IN THE BUSINESS ALL THESE YEARS AND GLAD TO SEE THAT DOO-WOP 50 HELPED A LOT OF THE OLD GROUPS GET SOME OVERDUE RECOGNITION...THEIR BACKS WERE CLIMBED ON BY YOUNGER ARTIST WHO, BY THEN, LEARNED HOW TO CUT BETTER DEALS. THESE FRAMERS OF THE CONSTITUTION OF ROCK AND ROLL DESRVE OUR RESPECT AND GRATITUDE FOR THE JOY THEY HAVE BROUGHT US AND HOW THEY HELPED SHAPE THE FUTURE OF OUR NATION THROUGH THEIR MUSIC. GENE IS TRULY ONE OF THE GREATS AND I LOVE HIM!!! GLORIA GODWIN

I loved your performance at the River Ridge Center in New Port Richey, This was the first time I saw you in person and you were just the greatest. I have been a fan many years and you still rock!!! You can sure teach some of these young groups a lesson on how to perform. It would be a lesson well learned. Thanks again for such a great show. God Bless and Keep on Rockin. Raffie

Your voice is SO beautiful. It is a shame most people have only heard "The Duke of Earl" cool though that song is. I saw you recently on a public television fund raiser of doowop greats & you ruled the stage, but why didn't they have you sing AT LEAST one more song. I was a kid when I first heard you. The Beatles were already here & nobody wanted to hear anything except Mercy Beat imitators. Except even the dumbest kids with the narrowest taste would suddenly perk up & pay attention when the Duke of Earl was playing. That song will always have nostalgic power. But the great instrument that is your voice has done so much good work that is transcendent even without "nostalgia" & nobody on earth can be considered to have enough CDs until they have AT LEAST the greatest hits CD which on hearing it would induce any sensible soul to look for everything else by Gene Chandler.

My mom plays your songs all of the time when I was a lot younger. It makes me feel as if I grew up on your songs as she did. Dude, I love the Duke of Earl--it's the greatest and so are you and Dante. Keep up the tours, I'll be there one of these days.

Gene...I have been a concert promoter for over eight years. I have promoted over 500 shows nationwide. I have promoted such great artists as Al Green, Issac Hayes, Billy Preston, Deniece Williams, The Manhattans to name a few. And of course, I have promoted you many times at our "Pacific Concert Group" Events/Concerts. I have wanted to tell you this for a long time and now is my chance. You are always a great pleasure to work with. You are one of the greatest performers to watch and are of the highest caliber of entertainers I have ever seen. And, to top all of that off, you are a true professional and never ever let your fans down. It shows by the consistant STANDING OVATION that you always receive! Your energy and class that you give off on stage is unbelievable!! Thank You for being the "Duke" and I look forward to working with you many times in the future. The very best to you personally and to your entire "Duke of Earl" family. Thanks again for your great talent!!...Alan Beck/ President of The Pacific Concert Group
