I've read that you're coming to Portland. I hope this is true! I've waited years to see you. Do you have a myspace page? Duke of Earl is still my number one favorite song.
Love,
Katie

I like your site. But its a pity, that your guestbook is so full of spam. I hope you can fix this. And I also hope that the site will grow in the

Hi Gene,
Glad I was led to your site by Zienobia.I'm a long time friend of hers and the family. I met you once when you were there.
Glad to see you are still going strong. Just to let you know Rainbow all three were the tops. But I will always love the Duke of Earl. LOL'

I wanted to thank you for the enjoyment your music brought me while I was overseas in Afghanistan. I listened to your song over and over to escape. I even bought a 45 RPM single of it and a portable record player to hear it in its own most pure form. Thank you so much for bringing my heart home while I was in that place.

Hey Gene - I want you to know that I was really dissapointed that you couldn't make the show at the Patapsco Arena in Baltimore. I bought my tickets just because you were to appear. You and Tommy Hunt were the headliners. Captain Fly from D.C. was great, The Winstons, The Jewels, and some karaoke singer (???). We sat through all of it - waiting for you- but alas, it wasn't to be. Some hours later, someone said you were not there - WE LEFT. Now, I see on your calendar, you are to come back to Baltimore in April of 2008. I pray I live long enough to see that show. OH, I could go to see you elsewhere, but it would be nice to see you in my hometown. We've met before, twice in D.C.. At one venue, in the hallway, you and I sang a few lines from your old records that are rarely known. You also gave me a hug. I'm a true Gene Chandler fan, my husband is too! I think you are simply amazing to be able to put on shows like you do at this time in your life. Keep on steppin'. We hope to see you soon!

HI GENE, I JUST WANT TO SAY I REALLY LOVE YOUR MUSIC. YOUR VOICE IS GREAT, IT SEEM AS IF YOU ARE REALLY FEELING WHAT YOU ARE SINGING. UNLIKE THE MUSIC THAT IS OUT NOW, NOW FEELING AND LOTS OF NEGATIVE COMMENTS INCLUDING THE R&B SONGS. YOUR GENERATION OF SINGING IS REALLY GOOD SOUL MUSIC, ALONG WITH THE TEMPTATION, SMOKEY, O'JAYS AND THE FOUR TOPS...I REMEMBER HEARING YOUR MUSIC AS A LITTLE GIRL AND I JUST COULDNT GET ENOUGH OF HEARING IT,,,ESPECIALLY,,,,,,(RAINBOW) WOW AND NOT THAT IM 34 I STILL CANT GET ENOUGH,,,,I CAN ACTUALLY PUT ON YOUR CD, AND I WOULDNT HAVE TO CENSOR PARTS FOR MY NIECES AND NEPHEWS..I JUST WANT TO SAY THANK VERY MUCH FOR REAL MUSIC....

Gene,

Listening to my compilation of Gene Chandlesr's Greatest, I typed
your name into Google and up came this site. Terrific opening page. I
grew up in the Washington DC area and in the early sixties I attended
school on 7th St. at Immaculate Conception, every day I would walk
down 7th to New York Avenue and over to the White House to catch my
bus home. On my daily walk I would always pass a record store and in
the window there was a poster (a large one at that) of the album cover
of "Duke of Earl". Whenever I see that image I think of those days and
smile and of course chant... "Duke Duke Duke, duke of Earl..." thanks
for the memories Gene.
Best wishes,
Marc Flanagan

We just saw you in Mentor and are still on a high. We shared Orange cake, champaign, chocolate covered blueberries, and rasberries with you. But,the best part was the wonderful conversation we had with you.You are the duke of kindness! You are a gentleman and have shared your blessings with us! The group from Stow/Kent!

I remember when I was about 12, listening to my transistor radio in bed at night (I wasn't supposed to!), and Duke of Earl is the first song that caught my ear back then. Now I have kids (and grandkids) and I play this stuff for them. Thanks Duke!!!
