Hey Gene,
My husband and I caught your show at the Chateau on Nov. 27th and once again, it was the absolute best. The other acts were good, but you are the greatest. My previous messages on this board are #108 and #305. As I said then and as I said when I saw you, we listen to your music EVERY night. I AM YOUR MEGA #1 FAN. We have your complete discograhy. In our opinion, you put on the best show of anyone we have ever seen. You might remember me because I wanted you to do a dedication. You later apologized that you couldn't remember my name. I'm only adding that because maybe the next time I see you, you will remember me, because God Willing - I will see you the next time you are in the vicinity of D.C. ALso, I loved the songs you sang. I'm glad you added different selections to your program. If you ever decide to add another oldie, my choice would be "To Choose".
Love you,
Celeste & Warren

I've always been convinced that "Duke of Earl" is one of the greatests and probably THE greatest doo-wop song ever.
Besides, I have always been convinced that "Get down" is one of the best disco-songs ever.
Two such great tunes in such a different music-styles from the hands (and mouth) of one man.
Now, that's big!!!

Kepp up the good work!

I've been in love with the Duke of Earl since I was about twelve years old. I'm twenty seven now. People seem surprised when I'm asked what my favorite song is and I reply "The Duke of Earl." The song is sung with so much passion. There are not a lot of fancy lyrics. It is about the passion and I think everything a young girl or woman would dream of is said in this song.
I listen to the Duke of Earl almost everyday. I listen to a lot of great songs- the Temps, Paul Anka, Jarmels, Jackie Wilson, Sam Cook, Wilson Picket, Shirelles, Etc. But nothing compares to Gene Chandler.
Gosh, what a dream
