Dear Sir Duke, Hi, my name is Darnea and I am a big young fan of yours. I love "Duke of Earl" and "Girl Don't Care". My parents like you too. They raised me on old music. Their anniversary is coming up on 6-18-04. I was wondering if you would like to meet them for tis special occasion. It would mean a lot to me if yopu could and them as well. I know that you still have a busy schedule, so that's why I'm e=mailimg you now. I love you, Duke. Could you get me in touch with Freda Payne and Jerry Butler , too? --- Sincerely, Darnea S.

As always you were great in Ocean Grove last night.I only wish I could have had a couple of minutes to speak with you as I am a long time fan starting with The Dukays.A s a record collector I have followed your career on Nat,Vee Jay,Constellation etc.As a fan I first saw you in the Uptown Theatre in Philly probably around 64.Recently Ive seen you in AC with Ben E King,Lloyd Price etc and at the Kimmel Center in Philly with The Geater and that great show."I only have eyes for you" sounded so good last night as did all your songs.I wish you could have done "Rainbow" but realize maybe the time or setting didnt allow.God Bless You.

Hello 'Duke',

I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed your performance at The Great Auditorium' in Ocean Grove, NJ on Aug 30. The show was wonderful and you sounded fabulous.

My only complaint would be that I mostly saw your back for the whole show. But, there was a good reason for that... it's because I was on stage WITH you! I was the bass player in the backing band.

It was a pleasure and an honor to work with you, and
hopefully we will get to work together again in the future. I've backed many other 'oldies' groups and it's always a pleasure to play with one of the 'REAL' legends.

Thanx!
Eric M

Good evening, Sir Duke:

I saw you perform tonight, 30 Aug 03, at the Great Auditorium in Ocean Grove, NJ. You were fantastic, and you still look great! When did you start performing at age 12? You haven't changed a bit, and your voice is just as strong as ever! I look forward to seeing you perform on your own individual show minus the other acts. Don't get me wrong, the other performers were good: The Passions, The Del Vikings and of course the Platters, but I want and hour or 2 hours just with you. I didn't get enough of you tonight; I wanted more! Well, keep me informed as to when your next performance will be. I'll be there!

Do you ever perform on cruise ships? I'll be going on the BET Black Comedy Cruise Labor Day Monday leaving out of Miami on the Carnival Cruise Ship. You should really look into getting booked as a performer on one of the cruise programs. I'm sure you'll have alot of people signing up for the "Doo Wop" Cruise. It's something to think about.

Well, take care, Sir Duke

Your loyal fan

Cinda, the Lioness from NJ

Hi!

I saw you at Oakdale, it was fantastic! The audience wasn't the best, weren't even half as enthusiastic as they should have been. If I had a seat in the aisle, I'd be up on my feet. I was on my feet anyway, along with my mom.

I really love your music, and enjoyed your performance so much!

Your fifteen year old fan,
Meghan Van Zandt

Hello, this is Zachary. It's been a while since I have written because I have been on the go quite a bit recently. Anyway...I have learned that in addition to your being a dynamic performer and songwriter (and one of my all-time favorites) you were an entrapreneur as well. You owned two labels: Mr. Chand and Bamboo (of which I'd like to find everything on both labels). Also...you were a fantastic producer. I have a copy of the Sisters Love 45 "Are You Lonely" b/w "Ring Once" that doesn't leave my turntable much. Was this ever on an album? If so, that will be on my want lists. As for your own superb releases, I just recently purchased your first single on Curtom and "Yes I'm Ready", a 45 on Mercury...but I didn't know it was on an LP! I have always enjoyed your releases and I'm going to keep searching for the ones I don't have! Keep up the good work! --Zachary
