Mr. Chandler,
My husband and I attended the show at DAR Constitution Hall on Saturday, August 17, and it was fantastic. We have seen you, Jerry Butler, Lloyd Price and Ben E. King on the Doo Wop shows on TV but nothing compares with seeing the performance in person. We loved it when you came down the isle in your red suit and cape and the rendition of Rainbow was great. At one point, I looked at my husband and he had a big smile on his face and seemed to be mesmerized by the whole show. I hope I get the opportunity to see you perform again.

The show at DAR Constitution Hall on Sat. Aug. 17th was fantastic. I just loved the way you did the "Duke of Earl". Your red suit was beautiful and I just loved everything about the entire show. Al Johnson is a personal friend and his band was dynamite. Everything was so organized and well put together. I would love to see this done more. This would be great show for a world tour. Your moves, your everything was just "GREAT!!!!!"

Dear Gene:

I can't tell you how much I enjoyed the show last night in Washington, D.C. All the performers were great but you just stole the show. When you came out as the Duke of Earl and when you sang Rainbow you took the show to a new level.

Jerry Butler said just watching you wears him out and I certainly agree. Your voice and your moves are still fantastic. Keep on keeping on. Luv, Paulette

Attended the August 17, 4 Kings concert in Washington, DC. Gene, you were fantastic! I was unable to attend any of your concerts while growing up, but tonights performance made up for it. My husband, a friend, and I rocked with you...as did the gentelman sitting next to my friend. Thanks again for your fantastic performance.

Oldies are definitely nothing by goodies. The music never dies. It certainly lives on and on. More than likely you can listen to it time and time again for years, and it sounds just as good. I went to a concert Saturday night, Four Kings Rhythm & Blues.

Lloyd Price, the producer, did the opening number. His first song was "Stagalee", then he sang "I got the Blues" and then "My Everything". Next was Mr. Jerry (Iceman) Butler and that he is cool as a cucumber. Boy oh boy, did that man look good. Everything was neat and in place. (Every last one of them looked fantastic in their suits. They had some awesome outfits and lots of outfit changes. This was so magnificent, the colors were outstanding). Jerry sang "He Don't Love You", "Never Gonna Give You Up", and "Moon River". The third act was Ben E. King. He sang, "There Goes My Baby", "A Rose In Spanish Harlem", and "How Sweet It is". The fourth performer Jean Chandler(the Duke of Earl). Awwwwwwwww, honey please! This man came out in an all red suit, with a black shirt under, walking down the isle from the back of the auditorium towards the stage. He had on a black cape with satin red inside, a top hat and a cane. He's tall and husky, what a brut. He looked goooooooooood. His singing made you feel like a cube of ice sitting in the hot sun. It was making everybody melt. His voice was beautiful and his emotion and movements that he puts in it, oooooooooh weeeee. His opening number was "Duke of Earl". Next he sang "That Girl, Gonna Make Her Mine", then "Groovy Situation, Splendid Coordination" and "I Only Have Eyes for You".

There were many many more good songs by all four performers. Too bad I can't list them all but the space is limited. Gene ended it all with a very dramatic and sexy rendition of "Rainbow". He got another standing ovation.

The music definitely put everybody in the mood, love songs all the way live, for sure Near the end when Gene Chandler sang his last song, there was another woman that wanted to climb up on the stage. Not only the sound of his voice, but just his moves had that woman acting silly. His other buddies had to quietly walk him off the stage because he had everybody going crazy. I must say that it was a wonderful concert. These guys really put it on. These gentlemen were dresse

Hi. I have been a Gene Chandler fan since the 1960's and I want to tell you how much I have enjoyed your records. I have been trying to find a lot of them--I understand you made two or three on Curtis Mayfield's "Curtom" label but I can't seem to find these three...but the ones I do have (on Checker, Brunswick, Constellation) and superb! And "The Duke Of Earl"--well, this one is sublime to say the least! Anyway, I wanted to express my comments...keep up the good work! --Zach, from Kansas.

Dear Mr. Chandler,

Love "Duke Of Earl"! My fiance and I would love to meet you. The other day "Duke Of Earl" was playing in a diner during lunch, Melinda came running out of the ladies room to hold hands as we listened. She is my Duchess...

Thank you

Mr. Chandler,

Additionally, if you can somehow add a central Florida (Tampa/Orlando area) date to your tour, you are certainly more than welcomed to.

Best,
Matt

Mr. Chandler,

I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for the tremendous amount of joy I've derived from your music. I like it all, but I especially love the material from the early 70's.

Thanks again.

Best,
Matt

Mr Chandler, Unfortunately I can only appreciate your greatness through recordings, the adornment of your fans and the stories from my mother, Carlene. Although I have never seen your performance it is a new duty for me to get some of those recordings and join the Gene Chandler band wagon. For now, keep doing what you are doing and continue to make your fans happy.

Blessings,

Christa Alexander

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GENE, AND MANY,MANY MORE.

Missed you when you appeared at Lamont's Night Club but hope to see you in DC in July. I met you and the Dukays many moons ago. Your uncle, Charles Drake was a good friend of my late aunt Jackie Haney, and they arranged for my friend Karla and I to meet the group in my aunt's Stony Island apartment in Chi town. (Does that street even exist now?). I am now a grandmother. I live and work in the DC/Maryland area. Left Chicago in 1994. I still have all of your records which had to be replaced with the new CD's due to wear and tear.

Keep keepin' On, Gene.
