I had the pleasure of seeing you perform 2x. The first time was a few years back at the Arrowhead Pond in Anaheim, Ca and the second time was yesterday (Feb. 14, 2002) here in Denver, Co. You were amazing!! I love your music. There's just something about the way you sing "Rainbow" that brings tears to my eyes. I love you and can't wait to see you again in concert.

Gene,

you've been a favourite of mine for a while and now the girlfriend recognises your singing style. It'll only be a short time before she's singing along to "Nothing Can Stop Me" and swapping your CDs for the ones she listens to in the car.

Keep up the good work, the sites been added to the favourites' list. Now I'm going to try and find some other soul legends on the web.

Cheers

Phil

Coming from England, the land of 'dukes' and 'earls' we could never figure how you could have a 'Duke of Earl.' But it doesn't matter Gene, you made one of the great records of all time. From the day of release, a seminal doowop masterpiece. Thanks.

Gene....Have been a massive fan of yours for years, especially your Vee-Jay & Brunswick recordings. Just wanted to show my appreciation of your soulful music. Great website by the way! I saw Otis Leavill live in the UK last year, who was outstanding - But sadly missed your act when you came to the UK several years ago. Best regards....Simon Green

I have loved "Duke of Earl" for almost my entire life. Watching your rendition in person was the highlight of the entire evening. Your entry personalized the performance. It just may have been the greatest single act I have ever seen!!!!! My wife and I are still awed by your spectacular concert. Our first live view of you but as another author wrote, I hope not our last.
Best of all, and God Bless....

I enjoyed your performance at the Syracuse Landmark Theater last night. (December 8, 2001) It was a great treat that joined us in the balcony area to start your"Duke of Earl" song. It is rare that an entertainer thinks so much of the fans that he (or she) would venture up all those stairs.

I have listened to your songs for over 40 years, and after last nights show I can now boost proudly that I was just one row away from you, and that you have not lost a beat!

Enjoy your sucess, and continue for many years to come.

Carolyn

I've seen you at the Landmark Theatre in Syracuse, NY,
as part of WSEN's Oldies Show twice in the last two years. I've attended many such shows, but your energy, talent and rapport with the audience puts you in a class by yourself. Thanks for a truly memorable performance. Duke, you define rock royalty.

Get Down has one of the greatest grooves (bass line)I have ever heard. The whole song is just great! I remember as a kid, about 1960 or so, hearing Duke of Earl for the first time and having that baritone sax just blow me away. Best of Luck. Try to make it down to New Orleans some time, say the House of Blues maybe. Crash
